Chapter 2 starts with Joshua sending spies to view the land which God has promised them.” Go view the land, even Jericho,” Joshua said to the spies. The part that jumps out to me is the “even Jericho.” This to me, is Joshua already living in the new boldness based on the vow of God’s presence with them on this journey. Jericho was a large strong city, but Joshua said. “even Jericho.” See, when you are moving into these promises, do not limit God. Never think something is too big for Him. When you have that thought, just remind yourself, “Even that! Because God is with me.”
When the spies arrived, they met a harlot named Rahab, this is what she said to them:
" I know that the Lord hath given you the land, and that your terror is fallen upon us, and that all the inhabitants of the land faint because of you.
10 For we have heard how the Lord dried up the water of the Red sea for you, when ye came out of Egypt; and what ye did unto the two kings of the Amorites, that were on the other side Jordan, Sihon and Og, whom ye utterly destroyed.
11 And as soon as we had heard these things, our hearts did melt, neither did there remain any more courage in any man, because of you: for the Lord your God, he is God in heaven above, and in earth beneath."
What does this tell us? The enemy knows about God’s hand in our past. Your testimony melts the hearts of the enemy. Never forget the wonderful things God has done for you in the past, this is a crucial weapon in your arsenal. So how can the enemy defeat you knowing this information? By getting you to forget, or inciting fear that can lead to your unbelief. Stirring up unbelief is a crucial weapon of the enemy, fighting by faith and not by sight is the way to overcome. To strip you of your boldness, all he enemy needs to do is tempt you to doubt yourself in difficult situations. If he gets you to walk by sight, you can forget about the promises of God. When you walk by faith, it doesn’t matter how high the walls of Jericho are, they will come down in Jesus’ name.
To add to that, the enemy hears about the actions of God in your past and is terrified by it. This means whatever action the enemy takes against us to deter us from the promises, is made from his fear of God’s power in you. The enemy is a master of concocting fear. It’s one of his biggest weapons. The enemy knows that we know our authority, his job is to make us forget or doubt. The enemy wins, when we doubt God’s ability to save us. Disarm the enemy of one of his biggest weapons, by being bold and trusting in God in all circumstances.
In my opinion, the important takeaway point:
