In our earlier post, we spoke about the importance of knowing our identity in Christ. The Bible tells us who we are as believers. While it is good to focus on all the blessings and the good things that come with proclamations, there are also practices that the Bible warns us about. If we indulge in these things, we step outside of the safe haven God has prepared for us,and we yield to external forces. The Lord is our shepherd. Think of this picture in your head ; He is the shepherd watching over His flock (me and you). We are provided for daily and we have protection all around us (think of a fence). There is no need for us to go out of bounds where the wolves lay in wait. God has provided sufficient joy for us within His paremeters. Indulging in sexual immorality, horoscope readings, divination/tarot readings and even listening to profane music can cause us to step outside the fence. Once we separate ourselves from the shepherd, we give authority to the wolves. Many believers fall prey because these practices are so common in the world today. We must separate ourselves from the world and be all in for Christ. There are no grey areas, let us be fully committed to Him.
Sex, under God's parameters, is meant to be between a married couple (man and woman). Even within marriage, there are guidelines married christian couples must follow when it comes to sex. Sodomy is a perversion of the original design set up by God. What many married couples do not understand is that oral sex is also sodomy. A couple in Holy Matrimony must not indulge in sodomy. Outside of marriage, sexual behavior is strictly forbidden for good reason. 1 Corinthians 6:19 tells us that our body is a temple of the Holy Ghost. Once we understand who resides in us, we must have reverence. How can we pervert the residence of the Holy Ghost? Is our lust for momentary satisfaction worth stepping outside the parameters to be open to the wolves?
How can sex open us to the wolves? Firstly we must understand sin in itself separates us from God. Sexual immorality is the only sin that directly affects the physical body (1 Cor 6:18). Sicknesses and ailments can manifest itself in our physical being if we give our members over to unrighteousness. In 1st Corinthians chapter 6, it also tells us that "...he that is joined unto the Lord is one spirit." Sexual intercourse unifies our flesh (1 Cor. 6:16). This is why it is meant for matrimony only, after the intercourse, the two become one. When we give our bodies over and form illegal soul ties with other people through sex, it perverts our soul. We destroy our souls, and leave imprints of us with each sex partner. These spiritual implications can open us up to the wolves through our sexual partners who have a piece of us. We can be attacked spiritually through a sexual partner, especially if that person indulges in occult activity or any forbidden spiritual practice. We are also indirectly telling God that we are better than He is when it comes to finding the person we should be tied with.
I fell victim to this sin over and over again. I felt guilty after each sexual encounter. I knew something was wrong. When I indulged in casual sex, none of these implications ran through my mind. The culture today is so sexualized. We cannot fall prey to these things, the price is not worth it. I once had sexual relations with someone who had multiple sexual partners. I had learned this after indulging with them. At this time I had gained some knowledge about soul ties. I knew pieces of my soul was joined up with many people. These spiritual eyes caused me to realize how far out the parameters I had stepped. I knew I sinned against my body, and I was going to pay for it. I gave the enemy legal rights over my body when I indulged in premarital sex. I asked for forgiveness, and recieved it with faith, but the issue with my soul was still lingering. As an athlete, I experienced injury after injury for almost 6 months. Each time I knew exactly why it occured. I felt snares on my body.
God is a redeemer. In Psalms 23, I share a testimony with David; "He restoreth my soul...He leadeth me in the paths of righteousness." After much prayers and tears, I have been restored. I gave my body to Christ as a living sacrifice, and I refuse to yield to sexual immorality and sin against the residence of the Holy Ghost. When I stepped back into the parameters, my body was no longer sick. He healed every injury and I am thankful for the blood of Jesus and His willingness to restore my soul. You too can be redeemed and restored. It may take a while, but seek Him with your whole heart and renounce you sexual activities (if illegal) as a sin. Secondly, ask Him to restore your soul and lead you in the paths of righteousness as it says in Psalms 23. Thirdly, present your body to Him as a living sacrifice. Fourthly, according to Romans 6:13, yield your members as instruments of righteousness unto God. Turn away from your sin, and continue to proclaim these verse day by day. You will have already been forgiven in the first asking, the repitition of the verses are medicine for your soul and the healing of your physical body (Proverbs 4: 20-22 : My son/daughter, attend to my words; incline thine ear unto my sayings. Let them not depart from thine eyes; keep them in the midst of thy heart. For they are LIFE to those that find them, and HEALTH TO ALL THEIR FLESH). Be redeemed, and stay on the path God has for you.
