On July 31, 2016, I experienced physically the supernatural power of the Holy Spirit. The week leading up to this day, I had been reading a book on blessings and cursing, written by deceased pastor Derek Prince. As I went through the book, I realized that I had curses. These included generational curses, curses that come through sexual immorality and many others described in the book. It was very insightful. Each chapter dealt with causes for curses and how they come about. They are very real. This is not just an Old Testament thing. God’s blessings are real, and so are His curses. We have the power to choose. Now had it not been for Jesus Christ on the cross, who became a curse for us, that we may partake in His blessings (Gal. 3:13). One of the latter chapters has a prayer in it that releases us from curses. It is vital to do this so we may partake in the blessings, and more importantly receive the Holy Spirit.
After saying the prayer for release, I had the thirst for the Holy Spirit. I asked Jesus, on the basis of Luke 11:13, that those who ask for the Holy Spirit He will give Him to us. After saying my prayer, I raised my head (I was on my knees, face down) and I felt a heavy weight pressing against my body, I began to lean back until eventually, I was down on the ground. I uttered a few words in tongues. This happened about three times. I wanted to experience it again and again. There’s more to my testimony but I say that to say, in order to receive the gift of the Holy Spirit, we must first address the curses in our lives. So below I will put a prayer similar to the one I prayed, and in the name of Jesus, if you say this prayer meaningfully to Him, you will be set free. Then, on the basis of Luke 11:11-13, you can now ask for the Holy Spirit. After asking Him to pour out His Spirit, raise up, be silent and let the Holy Spirit flow through your mouth, inhale, give Him full control of your tongue.
Prayer for release from all curses:
Lord Jesus Christ, I believe You are the Son of God, and the only way to God. You died on the cross for my sin and was risen from the dead. I give up all my rebellion and all my sin, and I submit myself to you as my Lord, I confess all my sins before you, and ask for your forgiveness, especially for any sins that expose me to a curse. Release me also from the consequences of my ancestors sins. By a decision of my will I forgive all who have harmed me or wronged me, just as I want You to forgive me. In particular I forgive (enter names here). I renounce all contact with anything occult or Satanic. If I have any ‘contact objects’ I commit myself to destroy them. I cancel all Satan’s claims against me. Lord Jesus I believe on the cross, you took on yourself every curse that could ever come upon me. So I ask you now to release me from every curse over my life. In your name Lord Jesus Christ, by faith I receive my release and I thank you for it. Amen!
