The Olympics are here again. These Athletes have trained all of their lives to give themselves the best chance of winning a gold medal. It takes sacrifice, focus and tremendous discipline to achieve this feat. As believers, we too have to keep our eyes on the prize. The prize for us ultimately is salvation that we received through the blood of Christ, and the everlasting life that is to come because of our belief in what Jesus did on the cross for us. However, while here on earth, there are many blessings for us to inherit. Like the athletes, let us live in a way that allows us to inherit the prizes Jesus has made available, while here on earth.
In my last post I spoke about blessings and curses. Both are real, and effective in this present age. There was prayer I inserted in the article, that releases from all curses, on the basis of the work Jesus did on the cross (Galatians 3:13). After getting our release, we can now enter into our blessings. Deceased pastor Derek Prince said, “…many Christians are enduring curses, instead of enjoying blessings.” Be a Christian that walks in the fullness of what God has for you. If you haven’t said the prayer for release, please see the previous article before going forward here.
I want to use Abraham as an example. He kept his eyes on the prize and as a result of his faith, focus and endurance he was able to receive God’s promise to him. How do we keep our eyes on the prize? How do we go about receiving the promises of God? What really impressed me about Abraham is that he followed God’s instruction no matter what was going on around him. He never considered the limitations he encountered, whether it be within his own body, or situations he found himself in. He did have Isaac before God’s appointed time. This shows that even though we try to accelerate God’s timing in our lives, it will not happen unless He is ready. We can relate to Abraham because we too get restless, but God is a merciful God.
In James 4: 19-21 it states:
19 He did not weaken in faith when he considered his own body, which was as good as dead (since he was about a hundred years old), or when he considered the barrenness of Sarah’s womb. 20 No unbelief made him waver concerning the promise of God, but he grew strong in his faith as he gave glory to God, 21 fully convinced that God was able to do what he had promised.
So we see, Abraham kept his eyes on the fruit of God’s Word, believing fully, that it will come in due season. Even though many years passed, and events happened that made it seem as if God’s promise would not come to fruition, Abraham remained faithful to God. This is the faith that pleases the Father. Understand that we are no longer under curses, but blessings. They will overtake you when you surrender all to Jesus, and wholly follow him each day. Believe in Him even though the world around you is telling you not to believe. He will move and change any situation you’re in, to ensure His Word comes to past. There is no situation you will face that God isn’t able to work in. Trust Him on your job, trust Him in your relationships, trust Him with your finances, we must exercise faith in all areas and surrender it all into His hands.
A short prayer: Dear Jesus, you are my Lord and savior. I thank you for saving me, I thank you for your work on the cross. Jesus I surrender every aspect of my life into your hands. I look forward to the blessings you have in store for me. I believe in your ability to restore me. I believe that all the enemy has stolen from me, you are able to restore to me ten times over. Send your Holy Spirit to guide me, to help me stay on course for my blessings. I do not want to fall into sin, and give Satan legal rights over me. You Jesus, are my Lord and savior, and I will follow, because you want me to prosper, even as my soul prospers. In Jesus’ name I pray, Amen.
